While it isn't expressed explicitly, one can conclude the examination issue. One of the essential objectives of the improvement phases generally youthfulness through early adulthood is for the person to get free in thought and activities and to create poise. This must occur while the youthful grown-up stays associated with their folks. Accomplishments in data and correspondence innovations (ICTs) have made it feasible for understudies to remain in with their folks, the separation regardless. As indicated by Barbara, be that as it may, next to no is known about the recurrence of the correspondence between youthful understudies and their folks, its substance and its effect on the advancement of the understudy. Hoferââ¬â¢s articulation of the examination issue misses the mark on numerous grounds. In the first place, Hofer doesn't clarify why they think their exploration issue is important(May and Meerwald, 2013). Furthermore, Hofer doesn't legitimize the criticalness of their difficult that is, the reason they think the issue calls for guaranteed research and activity. Thirdly, the analyst has neglected to clarify how their examination will help address the difficult they have recognized. Fourth, Hofer doesn't clarify what parts of the difficult they mean to look at and the normal results of such assessment. Writing audit fills two needs in logical research. Answer: Introducation Request and flexibly of property changes in an incredible manner in each pace. In any case, such vacillation in the interest and flexibly of property is because of different components that impact it straightforwardly or by implication. The effect of these components are on the cost of the property and furthermore different redentials that cuts down its gracefully and request (Patrick and Mothorpe 2016). The paper will talk about the a portion of the essential factors that influence the interest and flexibly of property, for example, theory of unavoidable losses, creation wildernesses, use limit, multiplier impact and some more. The influence talked about in this paper will show both a fall and increment sought after and flexibly of property influenced by these components. The primary factor that may place an impact on the flexibly of property in an area is law of lessening come back to land. This is on the grounds that land is a fixed factor and its gracefully can't be expanded. Properties are made ashore and at first the flexibly of property will increment, as the enormous number of land is accessible in a district. Nonetheless, the property producers will have a ton of lnd accessible to them at first and flexibly increments definitely. Over the long haul the accessibility of the land diminishes and property creators doesn't have a lot of land to fabricate any property (Cunningham et al 2014). In this way, bit by bit the flexibly of property builds nut at a decreasing rate than previously. Then again, the theory of consistent losses additionally influence the interest for property in light of the fact that the purchasers in a locale will request more at the outset as they need to put a great deal in properties at first. Be that as it may, as the time passes their requirement for property decreases and consequently the requests for property falls (Mankiw 2014). Other factor that influences the flexibly for property is the creation outskirts that shows the expansion in gracefully of one thing with a decrease in flexibly for other people. For instance, if there are rural land accessible in the area the flexibly of property will rely upon the sworn off choice to decrease the accessibility of horticulture to expand the gracefully of property. Consequently on the off chance that some farming area is sworn off so as to fabricate properties, at that point the gracefully for property will increment. Be that as it may, the choice of doing without the quantity of properties and expanding the accessibility of property will lessen the flexibly of property (Chen, Decu and Verstraelen 2014). Multiplier impact is one more factor that influences the interest for property in an area. Multiplier impact shows the impact of some other factor on the expanding or diminishing interest of property. For instance, the property has been work in an area having a great deal of emergency clinics or schools then the interest for property will naturally increment as there will be understudies or specialists of the medical clinic which would incline toward those property for accommodation. Because of these reasons, the flexibly of property additionally increments in these districts as property producers would need to construct property in regions offering them appeal (Olsson 2013). Cost and accessibility of capital likewise influences the interest and gracefully for property on the grounds that the capital here is the accessibility of assets, for example, the property credits that the individuals will take for purchasing the property. Consequently, inaccessibility of such assets in a locale will naturally diminish the interest for property as individuals won't have the option to follow through on such a significant expense fo the properties. Then again, the developers likewise need some measure of credit from the bank so as to put resources into property building. Trouble in getting such assets and nonattendance of legitimate financial framework in an area will contrarily impact the gracefully of property. In this way, so as to keep a decent gracefully and request of property it is important that the district have great accessibility of subsidizing establishments. In any case, accessibility of subsidizing establishment isn't sufficient in a locale if there is h igh financing cost on the advance sum. Along these lines, loan fee is additionally a pivotal factor that influences the interest of property in a locale. A decrease in the financing cost over standard home credit sum will diminish the cost of property and increment its interest as an ever increasing number of individuals will bring home advance at a decreased loan fee. An expansion in the loan cost will build the cost of property and decrease its interest. This is on the grounds that individuals will be reluctant to bring home credit from the save money with such a high pace of premium (Rios, McConnell and Brue 2013). Gracefully an interest of property is likewise influenced by different factors, for example, most noteworthy and best use, swelling, monetary arrangement, populace development and open strategy. Expansion hugy affects the interest and gracefully for property. This is on the grounds that swelling in an area expands the cost of everything in that locale including property costs. High property rice diminishes the motivation in the individuals to purchase property, as it will hamper their ordinary standard of life. Then again, a district having low expansion rate will relatively have appeal for property on account of less cost corresponding to different areas. Expansion additionally influence the flexibly of property in light of the fact that during high swelling land owners will confront a significant expense of property and in this way has the motivator to assemble more properties and land proprietors will likewise be prepared to sell their territories in that value (Gal 2015). Monetary strategy additionally impacts the gracefully and interest for property as a result of the tax assessment rate and changes in government spending. Contractionary monetary strategy is one in which the assessments are expanded and there is a reduction in the administration spending. In such a condition with an expansion in charges, the cost of property will increment and negatively affects the customers. This lessens the interest for property as the land owners put the weight of the assessment on the buyers and this expands the value (Mertens and Ravn 2014). Then again, expansionary financial strategy in which expenses decrease and there is an expansion in government spending diminishes the cost of property. This will thusly builds the interest for property and in the gracefully of property in light of the fact that the land owners won't have the impetus to offer their property at low costs (Hansen 2013). Open arrangements, for example, property assessment and occupants act lik ewise influence the interest for property, which is like that of effects of monetary approach. This is on the grounds that property charge likewise puts an effect on the cost of the property. One of the most significant components that influences the interest and flexibly of property is the adjustments in demography, for example, populace. Segment projections are of different classes and it affects the interest and gracefully of property. For instance in todays world individuals are isolating from joint families and inclining toward an unbiased family for themselves and their are expanding number of separation. This has expanded the interest for property by such individuals. Another adjustment in segment projection is the enormous number of individuals moving into a financially propelled locale on the grounds that to expanding openings for work. The interest for property increments by these migrants as they need house to remain while scanning for a vocation or while working in that area (Gonzalez and Ortega 2013). Another explanation of increment sought after for property is the populace blast in certain areas. The quicker pace of populace development is putting an incred ible weight on the need of property. In any case, changes in segment projection additionally on the flexibly of property in light of the fact that with the expansion in populace and request an ever increasing number of structures and complex are being made in different areas so as to offer satisfactory living space to everybody (Alkan et al 2014). In conclusion, the gracefully of land is impacted by the most noteworthy and best utilization of the accessible land. The districts where the land owners utilize the land help them to build the flexibly of houses and properties. Then again, absence of use of land or wastage of land prompts an abatement in the accessibility of lodging property. In this way, the gracefully of land relies to a great extent upon the utilization of the landowners to fabricate their property on it available to be purchased. This is on the grounds that an empty land has no estimation of its own (Leonardi 2015). From the above investigation it tends to be reasoned that request and gracefully of property are impacted y various elements. The effect is both immediate and aberrant relying upon the factor. The variables talked about over that influences the accessibility and want for claiming a property are financing cost, reserves, segment changes, expansion rate, monetary approach and others. Changes in any of the elements either increment the interest and flexibly of the property or diminish the interest and gracefully. Subsequently, so as to put a positive effect on the gracefully and request of property these elements should be considered by the land owner. It will assist them with keeping a walk around the interest in the economy and the components that are influencing the interest. So Im really happy to be able to share my day with you. Now if you are interested in becoming a freelancer and you have a little bit of experience or maybe you dont. This might be a valuable video for you. Cath Anne: [00:01:09] Now remember, everyones life as a freelance writer or freelance content creator or artist creative its going to look a little bit different. And this is just me sharing my experience with you. So Im really hoping that this will be helpful to some of you who might be interested. Cath Anne: [00:01:28] OK. So a little bit about me just to kick things off. I am as you may know I am the weekly host of The Homework Help Show here at Homework Help Global and I am also a writer for Homework Help Global. However I do also have my own small content creation company and I work for myself from home. Cath Anne: [00:01:54] Which I absolutely love. Now it does come with some challenges because I do have to navigate many responsibilities and many requirements from a multiple multiplicity of clients. So that certainly does come with some challenges however it does allow me some flexibility and creativity which is something that I am so grateful for and that I absolutely love. Cath Anne: [00:02:21] So now lets jump into how I spend my day as a freelance writer. OK. So I usually start my day my waking up to the smell of coffee. I set my coffee pot. For the night before and. I wake up at around six forty five to the smell of fresh brewed coffee. And that just absolutely sets my day off to a good start. I do. I love coffee. However the smell of it. Theres something about it thats so aromatic and beautiful and it just helps me wake up in the morning. However I dont begin my day by having a cup of coffee. I first have a big glass of water to hydrate my body and to get my digestion system going in the morning while Im having my glass of water. I helped my partner to prepare for work and get him off and out the door. Then I sit down with my cup of coffee. And then I have my smoothie. Now what do I add into my smoothie. So I always have a healthy smoothie every morning. I put a plant based protein powder in to begin with I add some berries. Sometimes a banana. Th en I add in some maca root powder some actual up which are two hormone balancers and adapted genes. I then add in some probiotic and probiotics or sometimes some flax seed and my probiotic powder. And then then top it off with some almond milk and put it in my blender and I drink away. Cath Anne: [00:04:12] So while I am enjoying my coffee and my smoothie that is when I do some personal development reading and Ive started this practice every morning and I usually do it for about five to 10 minutes just while Im enjoying my coffee and while I am having my smoothie because it sets the tone for my day and Ive created a little bit of a ritual for myself in the morning. So I am currently reading this book by Stephen King on writing and it is his take on his writing process. So this is a wonderful book for a writer and I highly recommend it. This is the second time I am reading it. So Im loving it. Cath Anne: [00:04:52] So if you know me you will know that I always have one to two books on the go at one time. So in addition to the Stephen King book I am also reading a book called you do you by Sarah Knight. Im not sure if that will pick up on the screen. There we go. Maybe well put a little link to it in later. But it is also a personal development book and it is how to be who you are and use what youve got to get what you want. So it is all about being who you are and embracing who you are and using that in your personal and professional goals. So I am really loving that read. I highly recommend it. Its super motivational and inspirational. Cath Anne: [00:05:41] OK. So once I finished my smoothie and my coffee and done my personal development reading I then move on to doing a light meditation. So I usually meditate for between five to 10 minutes per day and each morning. And this just helps to set my mind set for the day and guide me through the day. So Ive developed this practice of meditation and its been very helpful for me. Sometimes I use a guided meditation on YouTube or a meditation app and then other times I simply focus on a mantra and focus on my breathing. Cath Anne: [00:06:19] And that is the type of meditation that Ive found most effective to me. Now if you want to bring this into your life I would recommend kind of experimenting with different forms of meditation and figure out which one works best for you. And just to share with you my mantra lately has been expect nothing and appreciate everything. Cath Anne: [00:06:40] So as I take my deep breath in deep breath out. Those are the words that I focus on. And my mantra will change depending on what I am personally and professionally working on. Cath Anne: [00:06:53] Finally before I get into my work day I make sure that I always get some exercise in. Now this might look like doing a yoga flow or a few yoga flows doing an online yoga class going to a yoga class in my community. This might also like look like doing a hit workout which Ive really been loving lately. Or it might look like going for a run now that the weather has finally gotten a little bit better. I have been going out for runs in the evening so I have switched up my morning routine and I think that is a good thing to bear in mind that although you might set a morning routine and that it is beneficial to have some sort of routine especially when youre working from home. You can switch it up. So because the weather has been nicer I have been going for runs or going to a yoga class in the evening so that I get a chance to enjoy the weather as well. Cath Anne: [00:07:53] Once I complete my morning routine I move on to my workday. The first thing I do when I begin my day is I look at my passion planner and I check and see what I have scheduled for that specific day. So Ill go through and Ill look and see what I have scheduled for my day after I look at my passion planner and I figure out any scheduling conflicts and address them. Cath Anne: [00:08:21] I move on to my more skin notebook and what I do is I go into my most scan notebook and I make a list of tasks that I want to complete for that particular day. So that list is based on what I have already scheduled for my day and my passion planner. So I really like this two step method of organization because the passion planner helps me to organize my time. I also do use google calendar as well as Apple calendar on my phone so that I can keep track of meetings and that it will alert me on my phone when I have something coming up. But I am also a fan of using a physical agenda which is why I have the passion planner on hand as well and I really like to make a daily To Do list in my most notebook because theres something just so tactile about having something physical that you can keep on hand and check things off as you go along through your day. Cath Anne: [00:09:26] And I love to have my mosque scan notebook on hand because it helps me to make my to do list and check things off as I go throughout my day. Cath Anne: [00:09:36] So when I begin my workday and I make my to do list I focus on three major tasks for the day. This is because I want to maximize my time and be most productive but also keep my goals for the day manageable. Cath Anne: [00:09:53] Managing three goals and three major tasks per day is the best way to manage your time because it is certainly attainable to accomplish three goals in one day. So for example today on my list is to film one video for homework help create content and write copy for a local client and attend a workshop in the afternoon around sales and marketing. So those are my three goals for today. And I will write them down here in my to do list. Cath Anne: [00:10:27] Now each time I complete a task I take a colored pen and I check that baby off and that is because it helps me to stay motivated when I can see in a bright color usually pink is what I use that I have completed a task. It just keeps you motivated throughout the day and keeps me wanting to work on those goals. Cath Anne: [00:10:48] Now when I sit down to do my work I use two strategies. First I track my time using an application called toggle and Ill bring it up on my phone. Not sure if youll be able to see it but we will link it in the description box the toggle application helps me to track my time so I can track my time based on each task and it just gives me an overall idea and an overall sense of how much time I am spending on each task per week. At the end of the week toggle will send me a rundown a report of how much time Ive spent on each task moving forward. I can then take that information and plan my weeks ahead accordingly. This also allows me to track my time for my clients so if there are any clients that I have that I bill on an hourly basis. Toggle is a great application to use because I can keep track of my time and build them accordingly. Similarly it also gives me an idea of how much time I am spending on tasks throughout the day. Now there may be times where l spend th ree hours on a task and only work three hours per day. However each day I do like to spend at least five to six solid hours of work so toggle will help me to track that and keep an eye on how much work I am actually doing in the day. The second strategy that I use is I use the timer on my phone when I sit down to do a task. I set the timer for twenty five minutes. Cath Anne: [00:12:26] Now this is called the pomodoro method and we have talked about it a lot on The Homework Help Show. If youre interested in learning more specifics around the pomodoro method we will link one of our episodes so you can check that out. Essentially the pomodoro method is a way to maximize productivity. You set your timer for twenty five minutes and work flat out for twenty five minutes. Then take a five minute break. Reset the timer for twenty five minutes after the five minute break and work for another twenty five minutes. I find this method has been super productive for me before I know it and now has passed and Ive maintained a consistent workflow and Im able to check off some of those to dos. Now after I make my to do list for the day I check my emails for follow up and note if I have to send any emails I find that slotting time once in the morning and once in the evening for emails is most effective. If Im checking my emails throughout the day I tend to get distracted and this takes me away from my work by scheduling a time in the morning and in the evening to check my emails and respond. Im then able to put a strict focus on my work through my work day. Cath Anne: [00:13:45] Now if I have any calls interviews or meetings to attend I always schedule those for the afternoon. This takes advantage of the bodys natural circadian rhythm. You know that afternoon slump that you get where you just need a little piece of chocolate or maybe a second coffee to give yourself a boost while scheduling meetings or interviews or conversations in the afternoon around 2:00 or 3:00 oclock means that your brain will be stimulated in a different way because its encouraging conversation and engagement. Instead of sitting in front of your computer typing away like you do in the morning scheduling these types of events in the afternoon is a great way to take advantage of your bodys natural rhythms. So for example today I mentioned that I have three things on my list filming this video creating some content for a local client and attending a workshop and it just so happens that that workshop will be from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon and Im looking so forwa rd to that each day as a freelancer looks different and I plan them accordingly. Cath Anne: [00:14:56] One tip that I would give to folks interested in getting into freelancing is to schedule one day a week where you focus on finances now finances might not be your favorite thing to do. However it is very important. As a freelancer to make sure you are in control of your finances. Every Friday morning I schedule a slotted time. Specific to working on my finances. I produce invoices check on my weekly finances and to do my budget for the month. I also look at things like taxes and my projects my projected income for the year. This just helps me to keep a handle on my finances and know where I am in terms of my small business. I love the flexibility of a freelance lifestyle. Cath Anne: [00:15:53] And I love the ability to plan my days as I see fit. I like to start my work. Cath Anne: [00:16:00] In early in the day and then finish around 5:00 p.m. So I have my evenings free. And as I mentioned I always like to get at least five to six solid work hours in her day. And I track that using my toggle at. Once Im finished for the day I complete my day by reading. Exercising and enjoying some quality time with my partner and my cats. Cath Anne: [00:16:33] So thats it for me today guys. Cath Anne: [00:16:37] I hope you have a productive day. And please jump into the comments section below and let me know how you manage your time whether you are an office worker a student or whether youre a fluent freelancer as well. I did not expect to look at the situation differently. After reading the responses my opinion changed slightly. But overall I still believe one thing. Forgiveness is something everyone deserves, not for the perpetrator but for the victim. Thursday March 2, 2017 my boyfriend and I starting having trouble. On that day we decided that we needed to take a break, give each other space. To help heal the pain I went out with friends, and he looked to other girls. Going out with my friends helped until I was left alone. I decided he would be the best person to help heal my pain. We arranged to hang out that night, but he had already got the ââ¬Å"fixâ⬠for his pain. Theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I continued to check his phone, worry and belittle him. By April 2, we did decide the break and space was only making things worse. Even still, I was left with hate in my heart for well over three months. Finally on September 7, 2017 I forgave everyone in the incidents, on that day I realized that if I never forgave him we would never work out. I started by forgiving him then I moved onto forgiving everyone else. It is and has been a hard long journey, but it was necessary. When all of this first happened I do not think it w as the right time for me to forgive him. But now that I have seen all the good that forgiving does, our relationship has been able to progress past all of that. On October 1, 2017 the same boyfriend changed my life forever when he asked me to marry him. I said yes of course! Without forgiving him and the girls involved none of this would have been possible. My viewpoint on forgiveness is it is very important. If you can not forgive people you hold hate in your heart. With hate in your heart you will never fully be happy. I believe forgiveness is very very important, because to live your life to the fullest you can not keep hate in your heart. Everyone makes mistakes, some bigger than others. Eventually you will not have anyone to talk to if you can not forgive people. Your goal should be to live life to the fullest, itââ¬â¢s hard to do that with no one to talk to. This affects the victim because if they do forgive these people some russellmcdo97http://www.blogger.com/profile/09909708686190511426noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-160924899330419254.post-30179397050707869502020-05-06T23:51:00.001-07:002020-05-06T23:51:24.714-07:00Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Asd ) - 1801 Words Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by qualitative impairments in social interaction and communication, and restricted, repetitive behavior (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013), and is associated with impairments in executive functions. The 1917 urinal aka Fountain was originally put on display during a show promoting Avant grade art. Avant grade means advance guard which is a military term. Avant garde was art movement which originated in France in 1850 in order to open the eyes and more so, make fun of or shock the average or elite viewer. We will write a custom essay sample on Marcel Duchamp Why Is the Fountain Art or any similar topic only for you Order Now To put an everyday, ordinary item on display and call it art. For many of the upper class directors of the showing, this piece was ridiculous and they did not understand it and thought it an insult of sorts. Shortly after its first and only exhibit, the Fountain just happened to vanish. This particular piece was one of the more remembered pieces of these ready-mades that Duchamp produced. Other artists from 1850, which was the beginning of the Avant Garde Movement, to approximately 1970, also had well known pieces of art that was displayed to the elite, rich, and upper class viewers, including Andy Warhol, Rockefeller and Basquit. The pieces were to rattle there conscience and make them look deeper at ordinary pieces and more or less humble them in a way or make fun of their elite, snobbish, uptight, society waysSalvador Dali The Love of Zero, a 1927 film by Robert Florey. Is a piece of art like the Fountain plagiarism or is it art by virtue of selection? The piece of art similar to the Fountain could be considered plagiarism by some because the originality of the piece was not created by the artist themselves but by someone else. The artist merely used another persons ordinary, everyday invention or household item per say and displayed it as a piece of art. The ordinary item then transformed from the ordinary item with a humble use and purpose to a piece of art on display causing the viewer to search deeper for what the artist might have meant by using it. The same piece could also be considered Art by virtue of selection as well. Being that the particular art piece on display has a different meaning for each viewer; the same piece put on display by different artists would again have a different meaning to them as well. Any artist could have a collection of pieces that he feels is his very best masterpieces while a viewer may see that same collection as the worst thing he has ever seen. It is all in the eyes of the beholder. Art by virtue of selection means that is a selection from or by the artist as to what he feels is a appealing or is what he would like or prefer for himself. With that, we have to appreciate that each of us are unique and have our own individual tastes. \ 3. What is the Dada movement? What piece of art spawned the Dada movement? Dada movement originated in Zurich in 1916-1923 was also called (The Non Movement By Shelley Esaak). A group of artists and writers, during World War 1 went against the war and the society and cultures of the viewer that condoned the war or caused its production . This group were similar to the hippies of the 60s, who protested against the government and war, but did so with humor, wittiness and sarcasm but not anger as the later. , Duchamp, being among that group, was the creator of many of those sarcastic pieces and had made fun of already well known pieces of art. They took different subjects, altered them in hoping that the upper class citizens or the elite would love it, hate it or take it as the sarcastic, humorous and witty piece they had intended for it to be. A good example of this is the portrait painting of the infamous Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. Duchamp had doodled a mustache and goatee on the womans face. Of course this was humorous. to many and insulting to others, more so to the elite, high society followers of the latter. Duchamp and his fellow artists were not necessarily defiling or demeaning the art nor trying to be angry and confrontational; but more so get the attention of the viewer to not focus on the war at hand, their high life living, governmental rules and beliefs 4. Look through Duchamps other artwork? What pieces do you like and why? What was his inspiration for those pieces? After researching with great intrigue and interest in the meanings of not only Marcel Duchamps work, but his entire lifes events. He seemed to have such a deep, comical at times to the point of almost sadness image and view of the world around him. It is hard to decide if he is mocking society, making fun of it and thinks him superior to just very observant to the human perception. I was especially interested on his self portrait of himself as an infamous, black, socialite, librarian, Belle da Costa Greene. Whose parents had. Resided in the nations capital until they divorced . Her, her mother and siblings were able to play off that they were of a white heritage with their light skin. She went on to be the personal librarian to JP Morgan and then to his son Jack. With her profound beauty and outspoken intelligence, she became accepted as a highly elite socialite among the tradesman, dealers and Madison Avenues society. She had never married and lived as the Morgans personal librarian till her death retirement in 1948 and death two years later. Her well known expertise and unlimited available funds to make trades for her extensive built library she was very well respected and able to be mingle amongst the highest society groups, she once announced, Just because I am a librarian with a and inheriting a large sum of money An announcement she had made as a motto per say for herself, Just because I am a librarian, doesnt mean I have dress like one. She had designer clothing and rare exotic looks, was once asked if she was Mr. Morgans mistress and her only response was We Tried Mr. Morgan had left her $50,000. 00 in his will. The in-depth information was forthcoming to the conclusion of my personal perception and Marcel Duchamps meaning behind the portrait of himself dressed as an elegant socialite: Rrose Selavy Was he making fun of her and the secrets she kept of hersefl througout her life or was he just intrigued by her as well as others who was her aqaintances? I find it interesting take as to think he would be using her as a readymade perhaps Rrose Selavy (Marcel Duchamp). Many economically developed countries such as Japan and England requires students to wear uniforms at school. However, in United States, only private or parochial schools require students to wear uniforms, and they bring many positive results to students as well as schools. Therefore, all public schools should require students to wear uniforms when they attend school. In some schools that are against students wearing school uniforms believe that forcing students to wear school uniforms is a disadvantage to them. School uniforms can get boring and annoying; they have to wear similar clothing every day to school. Schools that are against students wearing uniform think that the uniforms can violate studentsââ¬â¢ rights to freedom of expression. However, some students think that school uniforms bring many benefits to them. School uniforms help their parents to save finances because they do not have enough money to provide a varied wardrobe for them. Instead of spending money to buy many different outfits, they can get a few of the same pieces of clothing without worrying about their children getting hurt in school, yet the schools who are against school uniforms do not acknowledge the benefits of what they can gain when it comes to the purpose of education. Reducing distractions is one reason for all public schools should be required students to wear uniforms when they attend school. They will not need to worry about their clothing to impress their significant other or to fit in or waste their time worrying about insignificant matter other than to worry about their studies. School uniforms can remove many distractions that are usually related to their casual and home clothing. The female students may wear clothing that is inappropriate for school causing the teachers to fear that it may distract other students from their studies. For example, the female students might wear sexually appealing clothes that can cause the male students to stare at them and can lead to a distraction to their studies. Femalesââ¬â¢ clothes such as shorts and tank tops that are tight fitting easily lead to undue attraction among many male students. Most female students who worry about wearing the latest clothes designer often take priority over learning. They easily turn into competition with other students to see who have the best clothes and gets the most attention in school. However, the introduction of school uniforms help students pay attention in class because they prevent the matter of fashion and cover the body areas that would be attractive to the other students. For example, school uniforms with a minimum length skirt, a white dress-shirt, and a tie to ensure that their chest will not be shown and their legs will be minimally covered. When students wear school uniforms, they improve their performance in studies. According to the survey by the NAEPS in the article School Dress Codes Are Necessary and Constitutional by Stephen Daniels, when students wear uniforms to school, there are 79 percent increased in classroom discipline, 67 percent improved studentsââ¬â¢ studies, and 75 percent indicated the positive results on peer pressure among students (Stephen 1). Overall, school uniforms help students to concentrate in their studies and reduce distraction in classes. Secondly, public schools should require students to wear uniforms because there is no discrimination between students. School uniforms show equality between students. When students wear uniforms, they eliminate a huge gap between the rich and poor students which result in equality. Furthermore, school uniforms connect students together, they get along better because they would not compare or judge each other based on their clothing. Without school uniforms, the wealthy students tends to mock the poor students because they think they are better than the poor students and it also gives them a chance to show off their wealth. This can cause poor students to feel inferior towards wealthy students because they do not own the brand name clothes like any wealthy students have. In an article in Los Angeles Time by Kurgan, an African boy, who immigrated to the United States; he had a hard time adapting in school because he did not know how to dress himself up because there was no need to wear a uniform. He felt anxiety and stress because he was taunted and badly treated by his classmates. (Kurgan 1) However, when students wear school uniforms, they avoid this problem and lower the chances of jealousy between students because they all wear similar clothing. Thus, no one has the opportunity to mock or pick on the poor tudents. By wearing uniforms, it would eliminate the labels of students being called a loser or cool by the way they style their clothing. Instead, the students can judge a person by their personality rather than judging them by the way they dress themselves. As a result, uniforms is a reduction in economic difference, thus they creates an environment of equality at school. Finally, public schools should be required students to wear uniforms beca use the school uniforms can promote safety for students when they are on campus. Today, safety is important and essential in school because it reduces intimidation and violence incidents, which create a good study environment for students to learn effectively. If all students wear school uniforms, it is much easier to recognize outsiders who may wander around campus because they wear different uniforms or clothing that does not belong to their own school. School uniforms also help to form and unite students together. When students go to field trips or do activities outside of school, we can locate the students that were mixed in with any large groups of people. If students get lost or separated from their classes, people can recognize the students from their uniforms and the outside party will be able to contact the studentââ¬â¢s school. On the other hand, school uniforms can reduce the number of theft that steals the wealthy studentsââ¬â¢ brand name clothing and eliminates the violence that causes jealousy among students. If students wear uniforms to school, they do not have to worry about stealing and bullying other student for their clothes such as sneakers and jackets. In addition to thefts and violence, school uniforms can eliminate the chances of hidden weapons in their clothing. Students can hide their weapons in their baggy pants or oversized shirts. Hence, school uniforms will be harder to conceal the weapons. According to the result of wearing uniform at a school in Long Beach, there are 36 percent reduced in school crime, 51 percent decreased the fights among students, 50 percent decreased students who have weapon offenses, and vandalism decreased to 18 percent after the first year (Manual 1). As a result, school uniforms secure the safety for students in school, thus all public schools should require students to wear uniforms in order to avoid the risk of violence as well as protecting school environment. In conclusion, many students are against school uniforms because of the inconvenience of not being able to show their sense of fashion or their wealth, and the fashionable clothes can cause the poor students to be the target of mockery from what they are wearing. School uniforms can eliminate the discrimination between wealthy people and poor people. They also bring many benefits to students inside of school or outside of school and improve academic achievement as well. When students are not exposed to their surroundings that may distract them from studies and feel safe in class, they will be able to focus in their studies and achieve better grades. Overall, all public schools should require students to wear uniforms when they attend school. Works Cited Kurgan, Leonia Kallir. School Uniforms Encourage Equality. I compared the monthly temperature and precipitation averages of New York City with the monthly temperature and precipitation averages of San Francisco. I also recorded the daily temperatures of the two cities over the course of three months. What I found is reflected in this report. New York City and San Francisco are very similar. New York is at 38? north latitude and San Francisco is located at 41? north Latitude. Each borders an ocean. New York is on the east coast of the United States, on the Atlantic Ocean; San Francisco is on the west coast, on the Pacific Ocean. New York?s climate varies widely during the year. The temperature rises to the middle 90?s ? Fahrenheit in the summer and drops to single digits in the winter. New York averages about 45 inches of precipitation per year. In San Francisco, the temperature rises to over 100? Fahrenheit. By comparison, the temperature usually does not drop below 20? Fahrenheit. San Francisco receives little rain compared to New York, only about 15 inches of precipitation per year, about one-third of New York?s average. Heat is a result of insolation. Insolation is radiation from the sun. Intensity of insolation goes down as the latitude of an area increases. Thus, a location at 10? north latitude will receive more intense insolation than a location at 75? north latitude. As intensity of insolation goes up, the temperature will increase. Air pressure measures the amount of force exerted on the air. Air pressure goes up as the temperature goes up. New York?s average monthly temperature varies very much. The highest average temperature is 76? Fahrenheit, in July; the lowest average temperature is 31? Fahrenheit, in January. San Francisco?s average temperature does not vary as much. The highest average temperature is 61? Fahrenheit, in September; the lowest average temperature per month is 47? Fahrenheit, in December. New York?s average temperature per month varies very much more than San Francisco?s. Water moderates temperature. A city close to an ocean will have cooler summers and warmer winters. Both New York and San Francisco border water. Most of New York City is an island in the Atlantic Ocean. San Francisco is on the Pacific Ocean. The temperatures in New York and San Francisco will, therefore, be moderated. Graph #1 shows the results of these affects on the temperature of New York and San Francisco. The dewpoint temperature is the temperature at which clouds form. If there is moisture in the air from evaporation and the air temperature meets dewpoint temperature, the moisture will condense to form clouds. When there are clouds, and the air pressure goes up, there is a chance of precipitation. Precipitation is likely because the air can not hold as much water. New York has more precipitation than San Francisco. New York?s temperature drops very far in the winter, and the cold air cannot hold as much water. San Francisco?s temperature does not drop as far, and so it can hold more water. In July and August, San Francisco averages no precipitation. There is not very much moisture in the air and the temperature does not go down very far, so it does not precipitate at all. Graph #2 shows the average amount of precipitation per month for New York and San Francisco. Graph #3 shows the high and low temperatures for each day of December, 1996, in New York and San Francisco. Graph #4 shows the high and low temperatures for each day of January, 1997, in New York and San Francisco. Graph #5 shows the high and low temperatures for each day of February, 1997, in New York and San Francisco. The graphs reflect erratic highs and lows because of different changes in the weather, which could be attributed to any atmospheric changes. For example, an approaching storm could make the temperature fall several degrees. New York and San Francisco are similar because they are both close to water and because both are at approximately the same latitude. The climates in the two cities, however, are very different. The temperature in San Francisco does not change very much compared to the temperature of New York, where the temperature differs very much, from month to month. New York receives much more precipitation than San Francisco. This is because the temperature does not dip down very far russellmcdo97http://www.blogger.com/profile/09909708686190511426noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-160924899330419254.post-78268106290166868842020-03-02T12:51:00.001-08:002020-03-02T12:51:02.931-08:00Best Great Gatsby Character AnalysisBest Great Gatsby Character Analysis SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Familiar with the characters of The Great Gatsby, but need to analyze one or more of them for an essay or class assignment? By assigning a character analysis, your teacher is giving you the chance to practice many different writing and analysis skills, including: close reading incorporating evidence from the novel into an essay building a larger argument tying small details you notice while reading into one of the bookââ¬â¢s larger themes The Great Gatsbyis the perfect book for character analysis since it features seven major characters that interact in interesting ways across gender and class lines.Since this novel has so many beautiful and fascinating bits of character description, it will also get youto practice using evidence from the text in an argument. So make sure that any character analysis you write builds on the skills you are learning in class! We will go over some doââ¬â¢s and donââ¬â¢t of character analysis below. Character Analysis Do's Here are some tips for constructing an excellent The Great Gatsbycharacter analysis essay. Createan Argument, Not Just a Topic There is a big difference between an essay topic and an essay argument. Most of the time, your teacher will giveyou an essay topic - in other words, what your essay should be about generally. Normally a topicwill involve connecting the character to one of the novelââ¬â¢s larger themes, especially money and materialism, the American Dream, love and desire, or the relationship between upper and lower classes in society. If you design your own topic, you could explain howyour chosen character illuminatesone of the novel's symbols or motifs. For our example, let's take the common prompt, ââ¬Å"Write an essay about how either Tom, Daisy, or Jordan represents old money.â⬠This essay assignment has the topicbuilt in: it wants you to takeone of those characters and explain how their individual qualities tie them to the bigger abstract idea of the old money class. But you still have to come up with the argument yourself. An argument is exactly what it sounds like - it's a point that you're trying to make by using reasons and evidence. There's an easy test for figuring out whether you're working with an argument. Could someone argue the opposite of what you're saying? Then yes, that's an argument. Otherwise, it's just a statement of fact.Plus, anessay anchored by a surprising assertion will immediately seem more interesting - how on earth are you going to prove this, your reader will be wondering. In our example essay, let's say that we've decided to analyze Tom. It'stempting to use something like this as the"argument": Tom's wealth and privilege show that he is part of the old money class. But could anyone argue the opposite? Not at all - because this is a factual description, not a contentious statement. Instead, anargument should make some kind of provocative, challengeable point: Tom Buchanan is an example of Nickââ¬â¢s scathing depiction of the old money class as fearful and insecure despite enormous privilege. Now, that someone could argue with! After all, Tom doesn't at first glance seem like someone who is fearful or insecure. Feeling like one of these goats means you're doing the argument right. Outline How You Will Prove Your Argument Make sure each paragraph is anchored by a thesis statement -a one-sentence summary of what part of your argument this particular paragraph is going to prove. Also, loosely plan out what evidence you will use to back up each paragraph's thesis statement. It can be helpful to create a simple outline before hand to guide how youââ¬â¢ll go about your essay. This will keep your essay clearly organized, and make writing easier. In our example essay, an outline could look like: Argument:Tom Buchanan is an example of Nickââ¬â¢s scathing depiction of the old money class as fearful and insecure despite enormous privilege. Paragraph 1: The trappings of Tomââ¬â¢s lifeshow his privilege and his insecurity. Evidence: fancy house polo horses enormous wealth year in France Paragraph 2: Tom actions constantly hint at his insecurity about his status. Evidence: depressed that his football glory days are behind him racist tirade shows he thinks the elite is about to be swept off the map has affairs only with lower-class women he can dominate Paragraph 3: Tom's constant policing of other people's behavior shows how much he wants to reinforce class divisions in the face of them eroding. Evidence: throwing money at Myrtle to buy ten dogs grousing about Gatsby misinterpreting the invitation from the Sloanes andmockingthe pink suit investigating Gatsby's criminal dealings even when already pretty sure Gatsby is a bootlegger Paragraph 4: Tom decisions around Myrtle's murder show that he is more cowardly than his intimidating physical presence leads us to believe. Evidence: manipulating George to kill Gatsby rather because he was scared of George's gun running away with Daisy rather than sticking around to face consequences Conclusion: Tom's privilege only heightens his sense of himself as a victim whose status is in danger of being usurped. Tom isa scathing portrait of old money royalty. Use and Analyze Evidence to Support Your Argument Bold arguments depend on a solid use of evidence to back them up. That means you can't just throw a quote into your writing and move on! Instead, use this rule of thumb: for each line of quoted text you insert, make sure you have 2-4 lines of your own explaining and interpreting the meaning of the quote as it relates to your argument. To back upour example argument, we would nowscour the book to find evidence of Tom being insecure or fearful. Once we've got something, though, it can't just be thrown into the essay willy nilly like this: Nick says that Tom was "one of those men who reach such an acute limited excellence at twenty-one that everything afterward savors of anti-climax" (1.16). Instead, wehave to connect thisdescription to thelarger argument, using close reading to really get at the meaning of the words Nick is choosing: Nick is pointing out that Tom's athletic achievements happened too long ago to keep feeding Tom's ego, Instead, because nothing has ever lived up to his football glory days, Tom is spending his time trying to avoid the depressing feeling of "anti-climax." Use Evidence to Address Counterarguments Because you've created an actually disputable argument, you can take the time to swat away the opposite position. In the example essay we've been constructing, we'rearguing that Tom Buchanan represents Fitzgeraldââ¬â¢s critique of old money and is essentially an antagonist. We shouldaddress the idea thatTom is the novel's sharpest observer of people. (After all, unlike Nick, Tom immediately pegs Gatsby as a bootlegger.)This seemingly positive quality could be spun to be yet another example of Tom's insecurity - he is very quick to leap to judgment rather than giving people the benefit of the doubt. Character Analysis Don'ts Now that we've covered what youshoulddo in aGatsby character analysis essay, let's go over some mistakes you should avoid. Avoid Stating the Obvious Donââ¬â¢t just say what the character is like, list descriptions from the book, or summarize what the character did without adding any analysis. For example, donââ¬â¢t just say ââ¬Å"Gatsby is flamboyant, throws big parties, and even wears a pink suit sometimes. He does all of this to try and win back Daisy, the love of his life.â⬠All that does is summarize something that is obvious from the book. Instead, tie those observations to a larger idea. For example, ââ¬Å"the extravagance of Jayââ¬â¢s parties and dress marks him as a member of the newly rich, allowing Fitzgerald to satirize the newly rich in America as he also critiques the cruelty of old moneyâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Jayââ¬â¢s obsessive pursuit of Daisy reveals an unrealistic obsession with reliving the past.â⬠Donââ¬â¢t Make All or Nothing Claims About a Character The beauty of this novel is that the statements ââ¬Å"Daisy is a horrible personâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Daisy is a misunderstood martyrâ⬠are both wrong. Instead, try and find the nuances, the good and the bad points of each character, and make them work for your bigger argument. For example, if youââ¬â¢re writing an essay about how Daisy represents the limited options available to women in the 1920s, you would likely be more sympathetic to some of her behavior, but you still shouldnââ¬â¢t excuse her hit-and-run! Donââ¬â¢t FocusonIncluding Every Single Scene or Line That Features Your Character Even for a short novel, Gatsby is jam-packed with meaningful dialogue, imagery, and plot events, and you couldnââ¬â¢t possibly analyze every single key moment for each character in one essay! (You could ââ¬â and people have ââ¬â write whole books on the subject!) Instead, focus on finding a few moments and analyzing them in detail, then tying them to your main point. Remember that the quality of analysis is worth morethan the quantity of evidence! Character Analysis Links Each of our character pages has a detailed section with analysis of each character. You can also get some helpful background information, a summary of the characterââ¬â¢s actions in the book, and important quotes by and about them: Jay Gatsby Nick Carraway Daisy Buchanan Tom Buchanan Jordan Baker Myrtle Wilson George Wilson The Bottom Line onThe Great GatsbyCharacter Analysis Character analysis is achance to practice many different writing and analysis skills. To construct a character analysis essay: Createan argument -a debatable, provocative point that you're trying to make by using reasons and evidence. Use an outline to organize your essay: Anchoreach paragraph by a thesis statement -a one-sentence summary of what part of your argument this particular paragraph is going to prove. Loosely plan out what evidence you will use to back up each paragraph's thesis statement. Use evidence to back up your thesis statements. For each line of quoted text, have 2-4 lines of your own explanation relating to your argument. Take the time to swat away the counterarguments. What not to do when writing your essay: Avoid stating the obvious.Instead, tie observations to a larger idea. Donââ¬â¢t make all or nothing claims about a character.Instead, find the nuancesineach character, and make them work for your bigger argument. Donââ¬â¢t feel like you have to include every single scene or line that features your character. Whatââ¬â¢s Next? Want to get advice about comparing and contrasting characters? FedEx has a diverse and broad customer base, they are not really aiming towards a certain demographic, but a lot of their services are business relatedâ⬠. (Roger, 2006; Greg, 2007) FedEx is really trying to please everyone, from a person in the business industry to a house wife. The services offered allows anyone in the business industry to send packages anywhere around the world so that can improve their business. Their services also allow a house wife or grandmother to send birthday gifts to their families. I will discuss these societal concepts and show that the death penalty does not serve to further them. Deterrence à à à à à Deterrence is basically defined as ââ¬Å"the punishment should fit the crime.â⬠Under this concept, the individual committing the crime and society are prevented from committing this action again. In the case of the death penalty, an individual kills another human and he is ââ¬Å"punishedâ⬠for it by death. Punishment is supposed to be a temporary penalization for a wrongful action. Death is far from temporary. One is to learn from oneââ¬â¢s mistakes. How can the person learn if they are paying for their mistakes with their life? By imposing the death penalty the individual does not learn from their mistakes and neither does society. Economy à à à à à Under this concept, punishment should be economical. There are specific costs associated with keeping an inmate on death row such as specially built prison blocks, the need for maximum security, and costing the courts much money through many, many appeals. These costs clearly out weigh the regualr costs incurred to house a regular inmate. Deterrence is clearly not served by imposing the death penalty. Restitution à à à à à Society demands that the punishment should fix the harm it has done. By sentencing a person to death no harm has been fixed. You can not bring the murdered person back by taking the prisonerââ¬â¢s life. Punishment is not intended to revenge, offset, or compensate for the victims suffering or to be measured by it. Retribution The community demands that justice be served. Would justice not equally be served and in fact may be better served by life imprisonment? I believe tit would be a worse punishment to go through a life sentence in prison. The individual is deprived of liberty. He will then suffer and live the rest of his or her life within three lonely walls and a set of bars. russellmcdo97http://www.blogger.com/profile/09909708686190511426noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-160924899330419254.post-19509904921472392952020-01-16T21:15:00.001-08:002020-01-16T21:15:04.491-08:00Fundraising Letter: organising the Lent AppealDear Parents/Carers, I am delighted to inform you that we are organising the Lent Appeal once again this year. Blue Coat was founded many years ago as a charity school which provided education and guidance to the poor people in and around Walsall. A prevalent part of the Christian faith is to treat others as you wish to be treated and at Blue Coat we strive to achieve this from all pupils. As a Church of England Academy we celebrate special events in the Christian calendar, including Lent. We believe that being benevolent forms a part of our Christian philosophy, and even though there are many different faiths at Blue Coat, charitable giving is a fundamental part of all faiths. The Lent Appeal project aims to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity and support those in need. We have been raising thousands of pounds for many different charities over the past few years with the support of students, teachers and parents. Last year we accumulated over à £3,000 for the charity Islamic Relief, and this year we are hoping to raise even more but in order to achieve this we will need your continued support. The event will take place during the Easter period as a commemoration of the forty days that Jesus spent in the desert making sacrifices. We remember this time by encouraging pupils to give up their time and money just as Jesus gave up his life for others. Each year the pupils are given a voice. During a vote they select which charity they most want to raise money for. This year the majority of the pupils nominated Water Aid. They use practical solutions to supply clean water, effective sanitation and education to the worldââ¬â¢s underprivileged people. In addition they try to influence education policy at national and international levels. They are presently operating in twenty seven countries mainly situated in the Africa, Asia, Pacific region and Central America continent. This specific charity also provides safe aquatic and public health services close to people's homes. Furthermore, their projects allow communities to attain a more robust quality of life and escape the spiral of poorness and specialise in fairness. During the Lent period we ask both parents and students to support our fundraising events and take part in extra-curricular activities that are led by teachers. We like to allow students to take ownership over raising money, with the support of their form tutors to help build self-confidence, team work skills and understanding the importance of helping others. There are many ways in which you can offer support; firstly encourage your child to take part in all events, attend after school events such as; fashion shows and X Factor. There will also be friendly competitions between the different colleges to help raise money for Water Aid and we would like your child to take part in at least one. You can obtain further information regarding the project by either visiting the school website or collecting a leaflet from the school reception. Once the Lent Appeal is over, the money will be collected together by a member of staff and the total calculated. The grand total will be announced in a special church assembly with a cheque awarded to a representative of the charity. To encourage pupils to support the Lent Appeal there will also be certificates awarded to individuals, forms and colleges who have raised the most amount of money and shown a high level of commitment. I hope I have covered all of the information you need however if you would like any further details please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you in advance for your continued support. russellmcdo97http://www.blogger.com/profile/09909708686190511426noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-160924899330419254.post-12412313695017381512020-01-08T17:38:00.001-08:002020-01-08T17:38:03.924-08:00What Are Formal Organizations A formal organization is a social system structured by clearly laid out rules, goals, and practices and that functions based on a division of labor and a clearly defined hierarchy of power. Examples in society are wide-ranging and include business and corporations, religious institutions, the judicial system, schools, and government, among others. Overview of Formal Organizations Formal organizations are designed to achieve certain goals through the collective work of the individuals who are its members. They rely on a division of labor and hierarchy of power and authority to ensure that the work is done in a unified and efficient manner. Within a formal organization, each job or position has a clearly defined set of responsibilities, roles, duties, and authorities to whom it reports. Chester Barnard, a pioneering figure in organizational studies and organizational sociology, and a contemporary and colleague of Talcottà Parsonsà observed that what makes a formal organization is the coordination of activities toward a shared objective. This is achieved by three key elements: communication, willingness to act in concert, and a shared purpose. So, we can understand formal organizations as social systems that exist as the sum total of the social relationships among and between individuals and the roles they play. As such, shared norms, values, and practices are necessary for the existence of formal organizations. The following are the shared characteristics of formal organizations: Division of labor and related hierarchy of power and authorityDocumented and shared policies, practices, and goalsPeople act together to achieve a shared goal, not individuallyCommunication follows a specific chain of commandThere is a defined system for replacing members within the organizationThey endure through timeà and are not dependent on the existence or participation of specific individuals Three Types of Formal Organizations While all formal organizations share these key characteristics, not all formal organizations are the same. Organizational sociologists identify three different types of formal organizations: coercive, utilitarian, and normative. Coercive organizationsà are those in which membership is forced, and control within the organization is achieved through force. Prison is the most fitting example of a coercive organization, but other organizations fit this definition too, including military units, psychiatric facilities, and some boarding schools and facilities for youths. Membership in a coercive organization is compelled by a higher authority, and members must have permission from that authority to leave. These organizations are characterized by a steep power hierarchy, and the expectation of strict obedience to that authority, and the maintenance of daily order. Life is highly routinized in coercive organizations, members typically wear uniforms of some sort that signal their role, rights, and responsibilities within the organization,à and individuality is all but stripped from them. Coercive organizations are similar to the concept of a total institution as formulated by Erving Goffman and further developed by Michel Foucault. Utilitarian organizations are those that people join these because they have something to gain by doing so, like companies and schools, for example. Within this control is maintained through this mutually beneficial exchange. In the case of employment, a person earns a wage for giving their time and labor to the company. In the case of a school, a student develops knowledge and skills and earns a degree in exchange for respecting the rules and authority, and/or paying tuition. Utilitarian organizations are characterized by a focus on productivity and a shared purpose. Finally, normative organizations are those in which control and order are maintained through a shared set of morals and commitment to them. These are defined by voluntary membership, though for some membership comes from a sense of duty. Normative organizations include churches, political parties or groups, and social groups like fraternities and sororities, among others. Within these, members are unified around a cause that is important to them. Our Parents or Guardians have the biggest influence in our lives. They are the ones that push us to succeed by either telling us in order to have a happy life you must attend college or they point at an old crippled, grimy man in crummy clothing, sleeping on the side of the road and tells us if you donââ¬â¢t go to college that is your future. We have all at some point of our lives heard the statement ââ¬Å"knowledge is powerâ⬠and we automatically think this means we must stay in school and attend college in order to be powerful, but like Malcolm x has proven you can be both knowledgeable and powerful without attending college , you just need to want to do something positive in your life. I grew up in a household where in order to do what you wanted you had to be getting good grades and this wasn t taught to us this was learned. I brought home the good grades and my parents knew this so they wouldnââ¬â¢t question me and basically I was ignored, and my brothers on the othe r hand were not so great the whole school staff knew my mother by how many parent meetings she had attended. My parents would applaud and treat my brothers when they got a C- on test and when I showed them the A+ I got they would just give me a pat on the back. It almost felt as if I never got any attention for working hard at school and began to question if doing good in school was even worth it. The Cultural and Global Impact of College Tuition and Student Loan Debt Introduction College debt is quickly rising as more students pursue a postsecondary education. Tuition is growing at a rate higher than inflation, thus forcing many students to make up the gap between income and tuition through loans (Houle). However, cultural factors must be considered before a young adult makes a decision about higher education. The type of postsecondary education one pursues, if any, is determined by many circumstances including socioeconomic status, race, and family background. Therefore these same factors impact the amount of student loan debt one acquires. At a global standpoint, the United States is among the nations with the highest amount of college debt with more than 1.2 trillion dollars in outstanding student loan debt according to CNBC, Consumer News and Business Channel (Holland). Although the amount of student debt in each country varies, similar cultural factors impact all students. Socioeconomic Status Tuition and finances are among the most commonly inquired topics regarding college. Socioeconomic status, oneââ¬â¢s social and economic position within society, directly and indirectly influences the ability to attend college. It directly relates to the financial aspect of higher education. One explanation for this is the human capital theory, which suggests a negative correlation exists between parentsââ¬â¢ income and educational level and the amount of student loan debt theirShow MoreRelatedFreedom Of Life, Liberty, And The Pursuit Of Education1424 Words à |à 6 Pagesof Education Until this past 2016 election, free college was a mere idea. However, most of the descriptions held a negative stigma in them. In Koreaââ¬â¢s fairytale, there exists a mythical gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who could transform into a beautiful woman so that they can seduce unsuspecting men and eat their livers. We will write a custom essay sample on Women as Sexsual Object or any similar topic only for you Order Now What does this tells us? Men, beware! There are beautiful women out there who are out to trick you so that she can eat your liver. This reeks of sexism where women are held in negative assumptions. Media further reinforces this view by broadcasting shows, programs or video games that exploit womenââ¬â¢s sexual appeal. In the past, women are blamed if they could allure other womenââ¬â¢s men; they are said to be wicked and bad (or to used the common word, a whore). If they are raped, it will always be the womenââ¬â¢s fault; they wore revealing clothes, they were seducing him, etc. The men were never blamed, at least not directly. They are absolved of any responsibilities towards the women, even if the women that they had raped became pregnant and were the subject of ridicule among other people. Even when the men are punished for their crimes, the women will always bear a stigma; they are considered to be dirty and have lower status than a slave. I watch a lot of Korean dramas. They usually are centered on the theme of love. There usually will be two types of woman characters in the story. First and foremost is the heroine. She can be a successful woman in her career, or a naive school girl, or a woman who is facing some difficulties in her life; they will always be identifiable because they are the good girl who are kind to others or are sympathetic to otherââ¬â¢s plight. They will always get the heroes. Then, there are the other women on the other side of spectrum. They are usually the bad girl, the one who wanted to steal the heroes. They are the scheming temptresses, are two-faced and are out to get the heroine. However, in the end, justice will prevail and the bad girls will get whatââ¬â¢s coming to her. This is a type of negative stereotyping. Either the girl is kind and innocent, or the girl is a wily seductress. The girlââ¬â¢s sexuality is viewed as a bad thing; her weapons in tricking mankind. Womanââ¬â¢s sexuality is further exploited in video games. A 1998 study found that a significant amount of games portrayed women as sex objects (Dietz). There have been a lot of Japanese adult video games published recently where the goal of the games is for the player to break the wills of the women characters and seduce them until they become his faithful sex slave. An example of this game is Gibo : Stepmotherââ¬â¢s Sins. In this game, the playerââ¬â¢s father had just gotten married and his new wife and her daughter had moved into the playerââ¬â¢s house. The player had a grudge against his real mother because he had walk upon his mother while she was cheating on his father. He transferred his hatred towards his new mother,Misaki and tried very hard to seduce her in order to prove his point that all women are depraved and couldnââ¬â¢t contain their sexual wanton feelings to themselves. In the course of proving his point, he groped Misaki on the crowded public train and let everyone else see her stepmother being covered in his semen (after he covered his own pant, of course). He also installed small hidden camera in the bath room so that he can take a peek of Misaki and her daughter, Shiina showering and using the toilet at a later time. He repeatedly tried to bend Misakiââ¬â¢s will to match to his wants and punished her psychologically when she refused. For example, Misaki wanted them to feel like a real family and asked him to call her mom. He then slyly agreed to follow her request in exchange for a kiss on the lips. When she initially refused, he cajoled her into agreeing to his terms. This happens repeatedly throughout the game, even when she repeatedly says no, until her will is broken and she became his sex slave. This game cleverly avoided using physical violence to break the women characters; instead the player had to use psychological persuasions to get what he wants. Never the less, this game still degrades women and their sexuality. Then, there are video games where the player downright raped women to break their wills. RapeLay is one of these games. In this game, the player initially attempt to grope a girl named Aoi, but was arrested when she reported it. His parents bribed his way out though, and he planned to take revenge against Aoi for busting him by raping her as well as her mother and sister. The girls will be groped until they are aroused against their will, and then they are raped. Once a girlââ¬â¢s will is broken, you can count on her to help you molest her relatives. If she is pregnant, which happened when you choose to ejaculate inside her while having vaginal sex, you will have to force her to abort the baby if you want to live through the game. However, the girl will commit suicide after this by taking a poison pill. You are free to rape these women as long as the game doesnââ¬â¢t end. Though the sex themselves are non-consensual, there was never any violence nor torture while the player is raping the women. Usually, the women will give in after a while, and they even enjoyed the sex (supposedly). As you can see, this does not bode well with women. Are we supposed to assume that a woman will enjoyed the sex while she is being raped by a stranger, even though she initially resists his intention? If this is taken as a fact, then the ââ¬Ëpsychoââ¬â¢ will took this as a legitimate reason to rape women against their will because according to the video games, the women may resists it at first but they will enjoy it after a while. This misperception is dangerous for women. If the men believed this, then women are prone to be subjected to physical and emotional abuse in their relationships. A research by Apt and Hurlbert (1993) noted that women who experienced sexual abuse in their relationships expressed higher levels of sexual dissatisfaction and has negative attitudes toward sex. They also will have a tendency to avoid sex altogether compared to women who did not suffer any abuse whatsoever. This reality is a far cry from the gamesââ¬â¢ depiction that women enjoyed being raped. Even more disturbing is the possibility that women who experienced sexual violence may blame themselves for the experiences (Bennice et al. , 2003). Furthermore, in one research, college students rated female characters in video games to be more sexually provocative than the male characters (Ogletree Drake, 2007), which shows that these students have a negative perception towards womenââ¬â¢s sexuality. Video games that feature women as a tough chick with guns have become popular during recent years. Lara Croft is one of them. This game features Lara Croft, the protagonist, who travels around the world in the mission of searching for rare and mystical artifacts. Lara is the ultimate sex symbol. Sheââ¬â¢s sexy, sheââ¬â¢s brainy, sheââ¬â¢s athletic, and she kicks and kills people, literally (or at least, she does in the video game). She is a powerful woman who can fight to protect herself. This is what Toby Gard, the creator of Lara Croft, intends for Lara to be; she is sexy because she is powerful. However, other people attributed her status as a sex symbol mainly because of her physical appearance, or to be exact, her body. Play Station Magazine even listed big breast as one of her famous physical attributes. It also help that the game is in 3D mode, which makes Lara body appears realistic, even when it is not. Laraââ¬â¢s body in reality is an image product of a manââ¬â¢s fantasy. When the game is adapted to real life film, Angelina Jolie, who played her had to wear padding on her breast to add the big breast effect to Laraââ¬â¢s character (Lara Croft has 36D cup size while Jolieââ¬â¢s is 36C). She also has to gain some weight to portray Laraââ¬â¢s curvaceous body. Angelina Jolie has stated that personally, she is comfortable with her own body and wouldnââ¬â¢t want breast as big as Laraââ¬â¢s. However, many players, especially men, appeared to be happy with Laraââ¬â¢s body. They performed in-game actions to view closer camera angles of her breast, and some fans also created cheat code that would make Lara removed her clothing. Some fans also created artworks called the Nude Raider, which featured images of Lara in the nude. It has become a trend nowadays to produce movies that featured women as a tough chick who are involved in violent fights. Example of one is Kill Bill, produced by Quentin Tarantino. It tells the story of the Bride, a ninja assassin, who is on a mission to kill all of her former assassin colleagues who took part in the massacre on her wedding day. She was shot in the head by Bill, her former boss and lover during her wedding day. The movie justify the Brideââ¬â¢s actions by acknowledging that she deserved her vengeance after being wronged by her boss and his entire assassin squad. The film was filled with action and violence all the way. The Bride went on a killing spree mission, assassinating the people on her kill list, and the sight was not pleasant. There are a lot of bloods splashed, gory images of limbs parting ways with the body. And funnily enough, almost all of the assassin squad is women. The only exception was Budd, Billââ¬â¢s brother. This film glorifies women as killing machines. They are the absolute femme fatale whose looks can kill (literally). The heroine herself is a powerful woman, which in turn make her hot. Women embrace this perception of female aggressive sexuality. I myself, on occasion, dreamed of being a lethal woman, who can fight her way out of trouble. It is appealing to think of myself that way, because to me a femme fatale is both hot and sexy. I think the reason we find an aggressive women sexy is because we can protect ourselves from threats, and the notion of being able to fight is opposite to the traditional view of womenââ¬â¢s femininity. Women has always been viewed as weak and relying on the strength of a man to protect them from harm, and the idea that we could defy that and be able to fight a man on our own are very appealing. The women are empowered by strength and the ability to handles weapons; itââ¬â¢s not hard to see why women are attracted to this view. Among other things, women are also affected by the ideal body portrayed in video games. In video games, the women character is busty and curvy while being thin at the same time. Of course, this is not realistically possible. It has been confirmed that young women usually compare themselves with the models they see in advertisement (Richins, 1991). And they donââ¬â¢t like what they see in themselves. However, women are still obsessed with achieving what they saw as the perfect body and go on extensive diet to acquire it. In the course they neglect to take proper care of their body. And when they still couldnââ¬â¢t achieve it, they are depressed and ashamed because they think they are fat, and their self confidences plummet down the drain. Men who played video games also have unrealistic perceptions toward womenââ¬â¢s body. In video games, women characters are usually shown as having small breast, thin body and small hips. There has been several researches which show that there is a positive correlation between large breast and attractiveness (Furnham, Hester , Weir, 1990; Kelinke Staneski, 1980). In one study, Amy Rask surveyed the male student on which type of womenââ¬â¢s body they think are realistic. The majority of them choose the drawing that showed a skinny woman with a large breast. This means that the male players are affected by the video games because the games altered their perceptions on realistically well-proportioned womenââ¬â¢s body. In my Best Plan Paper, I used Utilitarian Theory to guide me in making decision that will affect people I never met. In this particular topic, I would take actions that will benefits everyone in the longer run. I think it would serve the society greater benefits if game makers start to portray the characters especially their physical appearance as realistically as possible. This way, the player will not be misinformed and have unrealistic expectations towards their own or otherââ¬â¢s body. Violence against women should also be discouraged especially in video games and media. There should also be stricter rating system on violence. This way parents can avoid bringing their kids to the film that contains extensive violence. The available rating system on violence is too loose. For example, Kill Bill, which is a very violent film depicting gory killing scene, is granted PG-13 when it should only be viewed by teenage aged 18 and above only. The society should also be educated in the effect of violence and abuse on women, and if the media need to portray the violence on screen, they should be as minimal as possible and served as a reminder to educate the people on the effect this abuse will have on societyââ¬â¢s harmony in general. Each consumer has preferences for certain of the goods and services that are available in the market. Buyers also have a good idea of how much marginal utility they will get from successive units of the various products they might purchase. However, the amount of marginal total utility that the people will get will be different for every individual in the group because all individuals have different taste and preferences. According to Maurice Thomas (2011) ââ¬Å"marginal utility is an additional or incremental utility. Marginal utility is defined as the change in the total utility that results from unit one unit change in consumption of the commodity within a given period of timeâ⬠(p. 169). There is an assumption that consumers engage in rational behavior. Therefore one can define a consumer as a rational person, who tries to use his or her money income to derive the greatest amount of satisfaction, or utility, from it. Consumers want to get the most for their money or, to maximize their total utility. Rational behavior also requires that a consumer not spend too much money irrationally by buying tons of items and stock piling them for the future, or starve themselves by buying no food at all. Substitution and Income The income effect describes how consumers react to an increase in purchasing power. For example, if the price of a good they normally buy falls, it leaves them with more money to buy other things. The substitution effect describes how consumers reallocate consumption of goods in response to changes in relative prices. So if the price of apples increases, a consumer might want more oranges, which seem more appealing now in light of the increased cost of apples. Droving less and purchasing less gasoline In this case we are just talking about one good, gasoline. It became costlier and hence we purchased less gas and travelled less. This can be explained by using the income effect. The effect of a change in the price of one of the goods is generally decomposed into the substitution effect and the income effect. According to the definition in the article Investopedia (2011), ââ¬Å"the income effect is the change in an individuals or economys income and how that change will impact the quantity demanded of a good or service. The relationship between income and the quantity demanded is a positive one, as income increases, so does the quantity of goods and services demandedâ⬠(para 1). The substitution effect is the change in the quantity of that good consumed when the budget constraint reflects the new relative prices, but keeps the agent on the original indifference curve. Price change lowered your real income and hence you bought less gasoline. You cannot buy as much gas as before because of the higher price. With less money for gas, you can save by using your car less. Ate out less often This will involve both income and substitution effects since the price of two goods to take into account. The graph following this question can be used for a number of other parts as I will mention in each part as we go about doing it. In this case we have the price of oil going up while the price of eating out stayed the same. Say you start at point A on the figure. An increase in the price of oil will change the budge curve from the red line to the green line, since you can now afford less of oil, while you can afford the same quantity of eating outside. Thus you move from A to C. But we break this into two parts. To find that we need to draw a line that is parallel to the new budget line: the green dashed line. That is tangent to the old indifference curve at point B in the figure. This movement explains the substitution effect. One changes consumption from oil to eating out. But the price change also meant youââ¬â¢re your real income has fallen down. This is shown by a movement from B to C in the figure. That shift is the income effect. Thus the movement from A to B will be the substitution effect: you tend to buy cheaper products; while that from B to C will be income effect: you feel poorer. Thus the consumption of both oil and eating out fell down as the price of gas went up. A B C Second Good Gas Spent less to maintain your automobile. The same theory can be used for this question as well as in the graph. Even though the price of automobile maintenance didnââ¬â¢t rise, and the substitution effect says you spend more on maintenance the change in real income means you spend less on maintenance too. So in the graph you go from A to B (substitution effect) and from B to C (income effect). Take public transportation more often This can be just explained by using the substitution effect, which is substituting away from a higher priced activity (driving) to a lower priced alternative (public transportation). The price of public transportation didnââ¬â¢t change, and since driving became costly you drove less. You move from point A to point B on the graph. Bought a bicycle The substitution effect can be used to describe this action as well. This is the same situation as the public transportation. The substitution effect makes biking look better, even if your income was adjusted so that your real income did not change. This is shown by a movement from A to B on the graph. Not taking a vacation away from home Spending less on oil one would expect that one would spend that money on other goods, a movement from A to B on the curve. This is the income effect. There is not enough left after paying for gas to pay for a vacation. Since the real income has fallen a family can afford to take fewer vacations. This is shown by a movement to C. Thus move from A to C. Bought fewer cloths and made due with more around the home Buying new clothes more often and more expensive clothes is a consequence of the increase in wealth; hence decrease in wealth made me do less of this activity. Clothes still cost the same therefore the graph can be used to describe the substitution and income effect. russellmcdo97http://www.blogger.com/profile/09909708686190511426noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-160924899330419254.post-57137461295138916022019-11-29T14:46:00.001-08:002019-11-29T14:46:03.019-08:00Interview free essay sample Heres an example of an interview answer that does Just that: I am someone who keeps a busy schedule and enjoys getting a lot done. This goes a long way in buffering corruption that may be brought by big money. This is because, the constitution does not demand for any reporting of campaign contributions and expenditures. Spending is termed as a speech, which is protected by the constitution in the First Amendment even if the speaker is a corporation. The Supreme Court decided that everybody including large corporations. The court argued that impeding corporations from funding elections interfered with the provisions of First Amendment that guarantees freedom of speech. Despite the fact that corporations are not people per se, corporations represent groups of people, and therefore, their political support during campaigns is like support of the people. At last, the decision on the case of Citizen United was that corporate expenditures in elections did not violate the First Amendment hence politicians can use the corporate money to finance their campaigns. Another issue that the economists believed was that it was possible to achieve one objective without having negative implications on the other. However, the research that Philips undertook in 1958 provided information that generated quite a number of questions to those assumptions. On his part, Philips used the available UK data to make an analysis on the rates of inflation and unemployment in UK. After plotting the result of the research, Philips noted that there existed an inverse relationship between wage inflation and unemployment. As a way of checking the relevance of the Philips conclusion, other economists used price inflation instead of wage inflation and noted that the results were similar curves and this became the origin of the Philip curve. This paper seeks to dis cuss the analytical foundations of the Phillips curve as well as how unemployment rate of 5% may be inflationary in one country, while it is deflationary in another country. According to the curve, any change in the level of unemployment produced a predictable as well as direct impact on the level of price inflation. Philips, together with other policy makers adopted the relationship between the two variables and noted that an increase in aggregate demand as well as fiscal stimulus in the economy triggers various responses. First, they noted that an increase in demand as the spending by the government rises results into national growth. This is followed by falling on the pool of unemployed. On their part, firms will be involved in competing for fewer workers available in the economy by increasing their nominal wages making the workers to have a higher bargaining power as they seek to have their nominal wages raised further (Forder, 2014). This must have ensued after the former president Bill Clinton stated in his convention speech that Medicaid expenditure on the elderly accounts for over a third. This new bill proposed by the republicans will permit states to change the minimum eligibility, canons of care, as well as federal rules, which now safeguard adult children from being charged for their seniorsââ¬â¢ Medicare. The official election may resolve Medicaidââ¬â¢s future. Nevertheless, many federations challenged with escalating Medicaid rates and budget shortfalls are now trying to cutback the budget of lifetime care by greatly altering Medicare coverage by using federal waivers. Waivers taken or obtained by twenty six states, comprising California, New York, Illinois, Texas and Illinois, would affect nearly three million persons, most of who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. Lastly, the suggest that plans vary; nonetheless, typically they attempt to cut down costs by offering private managed-care establishments a fixed figure for a long term of care from hospital visits and doctor to nursing home settlement to aid at home, supposing that adequate care will occur in less costly settings. This, according to the article, can be explained by moving of hospice into the mainstream where it is currently serving about 1.1 million Medicaid patients annually. This has resulted in mounted concerns concerning excessive costs and misappropriation. The article claims that for the 28 + years that Medicare has recompensed benefactors for hospice provisions, it has, however, been acclaimed for providing critical health and emotional aid to dying patients as well as their families. Proper use of hospice care can save the government money. When more modern buildings are being setting up, more farmers are coming into citys. It also means that more green areas and forests are disappearing. There is a series of environmental problems that have arisen. But I do not know whether urbanization is an advantage or disadvantage? This is the focus of attention in recent years for some people. The opinion of this essay is that urbanization is disadvantages out weighs its advantages. We can see a newly emerging community now: where there are supermarkets, schools, banks and so on. Without doubt several years ago, it was still the countryside. People depended on grazing and farming for live. This is the history of social reform and it is also the history of urbanization. Actually, what are the benefits for us of urbanization? It is firmly believe by this writer : Firstly, deal with the income. . The income in large areas is certainiy higher than that in small areas. Intuitively, the urban income is more than that in the countryside. For example, Shanghai residents in China, generaliy speaking, have higher living standards than those in other cities. Secondly, when incrcasing numbers of people flood into cities, the cities are often becoming larger and many people move out of the downtown area into the suburbs. This trend of urban construction is beneficial to the future cities development as whole. Thirdly, it provide development opportunities for big cities. With more people coming to the cities, urban development is experiencing a new round of leaping forward. In general, urban development is important for national economy development approach. While the economy is the level for the indicator of a country, urbanization is beneficial for us (Debroy,2009). Everything has two sides; as a balance, since it has a good side there must be a bad side. Then, what areas negative impact of urbanization on? Firstiy, a large amount of non-normal cultivated land has decreased, cities are built in the plain where has good natural conditions and it is also bulit in the best agricultural areas. By planning, Chinese urbanization will involve taking the national land 3% to 6%. The ratio seems to be small but the size is not small about 300 thousand to 600 thousand square km, which is equiralent to one-third or the half in Chinese plain of the total area. In fact, due to fast the development of urbanization, enclosure style is still prevalent. With the large number of luxury plant, buildings, variousimage projectsthe large fields and large tracts of former farmland disappeared, so many people in China had little arable land and the conflicts become more prominent. Only in recent years, the net loss reached 3800 million of cultivated land, this is the reason that results in a large number of landlessness, joblessness, insecure farmers and food production and successive landslide. Second is the issue of how urbanization.Urban growth is too fast and the cities are developing even larger with excessive concentration of population moving to the city in a short time.It inevitably generates a large number of unemployment, shortage of fresh water and energy supply, traffic congestion, increased crime, environment degradation and increased risk of various crises of phenomena. Some experts say that urbanization does not necessarily have a city disease, have a disease is rooted in the guiding ideology of one-side, unreasonable industrial structure and layout,low-density expansion, approach the development of city to overcome the disease, plan to reduce urban diseaseand management and treatment the city disease. The opinion was justified, but the problem is that can we guidelines one-side in practice? Can practive in a rational science? Can management be done strictly in place? Such as this summer in Beijing, a storm almost paralyzed the city traffic and in Shanghai, a strong wind and heavy rain that serious traffic jams and large-scale blackout happened. These incident exposed the urban construction and management of our problem is not essay.(Bnden,2010) the third point is the real estatebubble. Housing in many cities are too many and built up too quickly now. It has occupied a large number of bank funds. There will be a large number of houses left vacant and leading to economic crisis if severe over supply or the price exceed capacity of the public. Experience shows that the real estate bubble caused by the economic crisis take years to be back to life. fourthly, last but the most important point, which is a the modern problem of human concern : The environmental issues. Now, regardless of what is in the newspaper or on thewebsit or on TV there will always be some reports of environmental pollution that are caused by disasters. The most prominent is the issue of urban pollution: and one topic needing attention is the outstanding water pollution. Due to rapid urban population growth and rapid development of industry, a lot of water has not been properly dealt with and is put directly into the river. This causes serious damage to the water environment. The next type of pollution is the serious deterioration of air quality. The rapid development of industry, transportation and heavy use of fossil fuels has cause a serious deterioration in air quality by dust, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, carbon oxide, ozone and other substancese into the atmosphere. The third pollution isoue is that of rubbish, were solid waste flooded and garbage is serious siege. Human life and production have created large amount of solid waste. At presently, China produces 660 million tons of industrial solid waste every year. There are 3000 to 4000 tons of hazardous waste in it, accumulated more than 64 million tons and it is occupying more than 500 million square meters land. Annual copacity of one ton of garbage and an annual groth rate is 7% to 8%.(Wang, 2000) From the point of views mentioned above, urbanization is like a balancing glant. On the one hand it promotes socio-economic development. On the other hand rapid urbanization will lead to the environment of human existence being devastated. It needs to find an equilibriurn that balances both sides. It not only enhances the socio-economic development but also minimize environmental pollution. But, what is the balance? And how to find the right one for effective? In general, the pace of urbanization should be robust and should maximize the benefits of urban expansion. We should avoid careless and blind thoughts about the disadvantages. There are some methods such as : promoting cycling and reducing by cars. This will not only reduce vehicle exhaust emission but also conserve the thenon-renewable resources of oil. We should raise awareness of human pollution, recycle waste by classification and strengthening the management of waste emissions from industrial enterprises and forth. Overall, urbanization is disadvantages more than its advantages .The government must plan for urban growth and development. It must make policies that will enhance sustainable land use and minimize ecological degradation. Urbanization is a cross-road which governments cannot ignore. russellmcdo97http://www.blogger.com/profile/09909708686190511426noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-160924899330419254.post-13167195918962978452019-11-13T21:13:00.001-08:002019-11-13T21:13:04.150-08:00My Kitchen, My Sanctuary Essay -- Descriptive Essay About A PlaceHave you ever been at home and still didnââ¬â¢t feel safe? Well, thatââ¬â¢s how I felt in my own home sweet home. That was of course until I found a place to rest and relax in my hectic life- my homeââ¬â¢s very own kitchen. Shortly after we moved in, the kitchen grew in to a sanctuary for me with every memory Iââ¬â¢ve had in it. I think the kitchen is a relaxing place, is because for me it represents a place of symbolic, spiritual cleansing. The kitchen is usually dirty, and every few days I have to clean it. When that happens, I view the event as a representation of my own inner, spiritual state. When the kitchen is out of order, my life is chaotic. When the kitchen is clean, my life has order. The reasons itââ¬â¢s a sanctuary is because itââ¬â¢s my familyââ¬â¢s meeting place, itââ¬â¢s my families back up plan, and itââ¬â¢s our emergency entrance / exit. My kitchen is no ordinary nor extraordinary kitchen- instead is it a corner of the house that I feel sa fe in. My kitchen at home is a sanctuary for me because itââ¬â¢s my familyââ¬â¢s meeting place. When anyone in our house has something to announce, an important event is upcoming, or we have to discuss anything- itââ¬â¢s done at the kitchen table. The smell of my mom cooking something, or something she had cooked always welcomes us. One very important discussion we had was when I received my high school application. We all sat around the table and discussed what choices I should put for two hours. All that was done at the kitchen table, and it was one of the most wonderful experiences in our family. The whole time my mom had been preparing chicken noodle soup, and the smell satisfied us all- it would definitely be scrumptious. We also, had time to talk about what I wanted to do in my future- and I have never before been... ...auses all the stress of your life to melt away. Along with the dopamine produced directly by the food, your body also makes dopamine when you have successfully created a dish. You reached a goal, and your mind rewarded you for all your hard work. Not only is the kitchen a great place to relax because it has food, but it's also a place of quite introspection. I usually go there, even when I'm not hungry, just to walk around and look out the window. I think. It's a place where I can let all my thoughts come together and I can sort things out. I love the kitchen for so many reasons but to me I feel really safe. The reasons itââ¬â¢s a sanctuary for me is because itââ¬â¢s my familyââ¬â¢s meeting place, itââ¬â¢s my families back up plan, and itââ¬â¢s our emergency entrance / exit. Everyone has a favorite place to be, a place where new innovations begin, and for me itââ¬â¢s the kitchen at home. russellmcdo97http://www.blogger.com/profile/09909708686190511426noreply@blogger.com0
